What Is Root Canal Therapy?
Each tooth contains an inner space that houses the pulp, which includes nerves and blood vessels.
When this tissue becomes inflamed or infected, it can lead to pain and further complications if left untreated. Root canal therapy involves removing the affected tissue, cleaning the inside of the tooth, and sealing it to reduce the risk of reinfection.
This allows the outer structure of the tooth to be preserved while restoring its ability to function.
Local anesthesia is used during the procedure. In many cases, a dental crown may be recommended afterward to help support and protect the treated tooth.
